Thank you for your email from which I can feel your great interest in the mascots for the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games — Bing Dwen Dwen and Shuey Rhon Rhon. As for the messages that they convey, please allow me to pick a few lines to give a brief introduction.
Bing Dwen Dwen looks like a giant panda wearing an ice coat. Ice represents purity and perseverance while the panda symbolizes honesty, health, and loveliness. Bing Dwen Dwen also resembles an astronaut, which is a nod to our astronauts’ selfless devotion and their exploration of the future.
The image of Shuey Rhon Rhon is a combination of snow and a lantern in the color of Chinese red. Not only does it imply tolerance, integration, harvest, warmth and light, but it also represents friendship, courage and strength, reflecting the fighting spirit of the Winter Paralympic athletes.
