介词短语

介词短语(prepositional phrase)是由两个或两个以上的词合成的一个作介语用的短语。这类短话的最后一个词一定是介词

介词的宾语

介词的宾语通常由名词或代词充当，若需动词作宾语，則通常用动名词形式

I apologize for not writing before. 我此前未能写信，道表数意。 Do you object to working on weekends？你反对周末工作吗？

.表示“除…••.外”的 but, except 等个别介词后接动词作宾语时，通常用不定式：若其前有行为动词do,不定式不带 to;若其前没有do,不定式通常带 to。

I had no choice but to lie down. 除了躺下外我别无选择。 He never did anything but watch TV. 除了看电视，他从不干任何事。

疑问词＋不定式可作介词宾语

过去分词作介词宾语只限于 take... for granted 结构和用于 regard...as done 结构

作定语

The girl in red is my sister. 穿红衣的那个女孩是我妹妹。(作定语时一般后置）

作状语

作补语

I always find her at her studies. 我经常发现她在学习。

介词所表示的关系

介词常用来表示时问、地点、目的、原因、结果、方向、对象等,用法比较灵活
