First,inordertokeepabreastofthedigitalera,everyuniversityshouldbeequippedwithanadequatenumberofcomputers.Studentsshouldalsobetaughtthebasicsofcomputersciencesothattheywillnotlagbehind.Theimportanceofcomputerskillsisevidencedbythefactthatmostcompaniesrequiretheirprospectiveemployeestobeproficientincommonlyusedsoftware,suchasMicrosoftOffice.Secondly,thecreationofe-bookshasrenderedtraditionalbooksobsoleteatleasttosomeextent.StudentscandownloadevenaudiobooksviatheInternetandtherichvarietyensuresthateachindividualcanprocurewhatheorshedesires.Lastly,itisunrealistictokeeptheuniversitylibraryuptodateowingtotherapiddevelopmentofmodernsociety.Therefore,theuniversityshouldallocateitslimitedfinancialresourcestopurchasecomputerswhichenablestudentstokeepupwiththelatestdevelopmentviatheaidoftheInternet.
Allinall,admittedly,oneshouldnotbelittletheimportanceofbooks.Afterall,bookshavebeenemployedasamajormeanstodisseminateknowledge.Nonetheless,theinexorabletrendofcomputerisationinthe21stcenturyrendersitimperativeforuniversitiestobeequippedwithcomputersaswellasothermultimediadevices.(221words)
