名词性从句(Noun Clause）是指在句子中起名词作用的句子，功能相当于名词词组。根据其在句中不同的语法功能，名词性从句可以分为主语从句(Subiect Clause）宾语从句(Object Clause）、表语从句(Predicative Clause)和同位语从句 (Appositive Clause)。

主语从句

主语从句是在复合句中作主语的从句。主语从句一般出现在句首，谓语动词之前。许多情况下,为了平衡句子结构，常用it代替主语从句，将主语从句后置,it 只是形式主语

由连接代词 what, whatever, whoever 等引导的主语从句一般不能用it作形式主语

whether 与 if引导主语从句的区别

whether 引导的主语从句既可放在句首也可放在句尾,if引导的主语从句只能放在句末

Whether she comes or not makes no difference．她来不来都没有关系。

whether 后面可跟or 或 or not，其中 or not 既可紧跟在whether 之后，也可分开放在句末或者省略，而计后面通常不接 or not,如要接，则需与if分开放在后面

It is doubtful whether/if the President knew the details of the plan.总统是否知道这个计划的细节这一点颇有疑问。

宾语从句

宾语从句在句中作及物动词或介词的宾语。某些系表结构的形容词有区物动词的作用，其后可接宾语从句,该类形容词主要有：certain, afraid, sure, anxious, aware, glad, proud, surprised, worried, sorry, ashamed, determined, pleased, satistied, annoyed, disappointed 等

I doubt whether he will come. 我怀疑他是否会来。(及物动词 doubt 的宾语） Whether you will succeed or not depends on what you do and how you do it.你是否会成功取决于你做什么和怎样做。（介词on 的宾语）

it形式宾语

在宾语复合结构“及物动词+宾语＋宾补”中,往往用形式宾语 it 替代宾语从句,将真正的宾语从句后置，即“及物动词+it+宾补＋宾语从句”

We consider it necessary that you have a clear understanding of the situation. 我们认为你有必要认清形势。(it 为形式宾语,that 从句为动词consider 的真实宾语）

大多数介词不能直接跟 that 从句作宾语，这时一般需要it作形式宾语，作为真正宾语的 that 从句后置,that 不可省略

You may rely on it that I shall help gou. 你可以指望我会督助你。(it 为形式宾语，that 从句为介词on 的真实宾语）

在介词 in,except, save, besides 和 but 之后可以跟 that 从句，但多看作固定用法：in that(因为)，except that(除了⋯⋯)，bat that(要不是….)save that(除了…），besides that（除了⋯）

whether 和if引导的宾语从句可以互换使用，但介词后的宾语从句只能用 whether，不能用if

宾语从句中连词 that 通常可以省略，但以下情况不可省略连词 that

当主句谓语动词后接两个或两个以上宾语从句时，除第一个从句外其他从句的that 不可省略

The teacher told the students （that） they should hand in their homework on time and that they would have a test the next day. 老师告诉学生，他们应被按时交作业。并且第二天他们会进行考试。

当主句与that 引导的宾语从句之间有插人语时.that 不能省略

He didn't know, I'm sure, that John was going to America. 我相信他不知道釣翰委去美国。

当宾语从句是复合句，且该复合句的从句位于主句之前时.that 不能省略

He promised that if he came back early, he would cook for her. 他承诺說，如果他回条得早，就会给她做饭。

当that 宾语从句是双宾语中的直接宾语时,that一般不能省略

I will never tell anyone that you have ever been there．我不会告诉任何人，你曾经到过那里

当it 作形式宾语,that 引导的宾语从句后置时,that 不能省略

She makes it clear theat the meeting won't be put off. 她明确表示示会议不会推退。

表语从句

表语从句在句中作表语，位于主句中的系动词之后

The question is who can complete the difficult task 问题是谁能究成这项艰巨的任务。

表语从句可用 whether 引导，也可用as if/though 引导，但不能用计引导

He looked as if he was going to impress everything in the room into his mind. 他看上去是要把屋里的一切都印入脑海。

当主句的主语是 reason 时，状语从句的引导词要用 that,不能用 because

That's why + 结果

He is careless and irresponsible. That was why he was dismissed. 他既粗心又不負責任，这就是他被解雇的原因。

That's because + 原因

He was dismissed. That was because he is careless and irresponsible. 他被解雇了，这是因为他既粗心又不負責任。

The reason why/for... is/was that..

The reason why he was dismissed was that he was careless and irresponsible. 他被解雇的原因是他既粗心又不负責任。

同位语从句

同位语从句就是跟在名词后面，表达具体内容、起解释说明作用的从句

下列名词后面可接同位语从句： hope（希望），fect(事实），news(消息），message(消息)，problem（问题），conclusion(结论），agrermont(同感，协议），belief(信介仰)，concept（现念，概企）， idea(想法），question（问题），suggestion(提议），thought(想法），conviction(确信，定罪），doubt(不疑），decision(决定，决心)，assumption(假定，设想)，evidence(迹象，证据)，promise(诺言)等。

引导同位语从句的词通粉有连词 that, whether，连接副词 how，when,where,why 等。that 引导同位语从句时通常不可省略;近和which 不能引导同位语从句

有时同位语从句可以不紧跟在它所说明的名词后,而被别的词语隔开

The thought came to her that maybe she had left the door open when she left home.她突然想起她可能在离开家时没把门关上。
