However,aseverythinghastwosides,therearealsosomedisadvantagesinattendingaforeignuniversity.Themostseriousproblemisthelanguagebarrier.Mostofthestudentswhoarereadytogoabroaddonotadequateknowledgeofthelanguagespokenthere.Asaresult,onarrivingthere,theywillfinditdifficulttounderstandwhattheinstructorsaresaying.Besides,forlackofknowledgeofthecustomsandwayoflifeofthelocalpeople,theymayrunintotroubleindealingwithvarioussituations.Therefore,misunderstandingsoftenarise.Furthermore,thecostoflivingismuchhigherthanthatinourcountry,somoststudentshavetofindpart-tinejobsinordertohelpsupportthemselves.Facedwiththesedifficulties,manystudentsfindthemselvesunabletopayfullattentiontotheirstudiesandsomestudentsmayevenfailintheircoursesandlearnlittle.

Manycollegesanduniversitieshaveexpandedtheirenrollmentsince1998.Thereasonsfortheexpansionareasfollows.Firstly,theywanttokeepupwiththeneedofthejobmarkettoproducemorequalifiedpeopletotakeupthejobs.Secondly,theexpansionhasentitledmanyhighschoolgraduatestotherightofreceivinghighereducation.Lastbutnotleast,itcanraisetheintellectualstandardsofournation.

However,studiesshowthatthetrendtoexpandhasbroughtaboutmanyproblems.Forinstance,theteachingfacilitiesandaccommodationcapacitiesofmanycollegesanduniversitiesarelimitedandareunabletomeetthedemandofanever-increasingnumberofthenewlyenrolledstudents.Ontheotherhand,theaveragequalityofthefreshmenisdeclining.Inthelongrun,huntingforajobwillbeatoughthingforthegraduatesandthatwillinevitablyexertmuchpressureontheprospectsofemployment.

Inspiteofallthis,Iamstillconfidentthattheexpansionofenrollmentisofgreatbenefittooursocietyandisagoodthing.Withthedevelopmentofournationaleconomy,theproblemasmentionedabovewillbesolvedifpropermeasuresaretaken.
